Rancher
This thirty-year-old rancher located in White Marsh was badly in need of some curb appeal. The former monotone exterior was faced in mint green siding and the entryway was far from inviting. Searching for a way to include a wraparound porch as well as a new overall look to their home, the homeowners contacted Van Deusen to modernize their dated rancher.
Van Deusen designed a southern-style wraparound porch that extends from the home at a 45-degree angle from the rear, creating a second entryway from the driveway. New white columns were surrounded in bluestone, providing some much-needed contrast and earth-toned siding was chosen to complement the stone and exterior trim colors. Roof supports were wrapped in vinyl-coated aluminum, adding more weight to the porch area and dimensional shingles complement the new stone and siding colors. The homeowners chose to replace the out-of-date living room bay window with Andersen broken-ellipse windows, in addition to replacing the existing casement windows. The result of this makeover is a brand-new exterior incorporating several design elements, boosting the curb appeal of this once unattractive home.
