Jade Road
Van Deusen Construction Company, Inc. earned Home Builders Association of Maryland Award of Excellence for Best Garage Addition in 2006 for this project. Located on Jade Road in Bel Air, Maryland, the existing building, a standard two-car garage provided insufficient space for the owners’ cars, landscaping equipment and their extensive collection of woodworking materials. The owners wanted an addition that blended with the existing design features of the house, with expanded space that would not overwhelm the structure. Additionally, the owners hoped to add a patio area at the same height as the garage for expanded outdoor living space and privacy from neighboring houses. The result of Van Deusen’s efforts was a beautiful garage that appeared only slightly larger than the previous structure but can house up to six cars. Attic trusses were raised, a woodshop was built, and over 1,100 square feet of outdoor living space was added to the bluestone and brick patio.
